Herend

Herend has been producing one of the worlds finest and distinctive porcelain brands since 1826. Vince Stingl, investing in a facility that began producing a porcelain that would survive the times, transformed a small villages cottage industry into a recognized and respected international brand. The Herend we know today began in 1839 with Moric Fischer. Unable to compete with the larger commercial factories , he took Herend into reproducing old valuable porcelain patterns. He is known for creating a matching set to replace one with missing pieces for the king of Sardina. The story spread as well as the Herend name allowing Fischer to introduce some original design, winning a medal in 1853 with its first exposure to the American market at New Yorks exhibition of industrial arts.
